Hello! Thank you all so, so much for supporting my second book ‘What happened to Daddy’s Body?’ – it’s fully funded now, which is AMAZING, but every penny helps, and every penny will go towards the book. 7 hours left to pledge. :o) Check out the rewards on: http://www.bloomvc.com/project/What-Happened-to-Daddys-Body xxx
This is our true story...
Both books are based on our true story.
"Is Daddy Coming Back in a Minute?" explains (sudden) death, while "What Happened to Daddy's Body?" explains cremation, burial and spreading the ashes in words very young children can understand.
They also reassure children and their families that it's okay to be sad, but that it's okay to be happy, too..
It’s so good to see the new book grow. Just been sent another sketch by the lovely Anna Jarvis, and, if I had any doubts about whether I needed to do this or not, I now know that I’m doing the right thing. I can’t wait to see it finished. It is, unfortunately, so needed. […]
After the huge crowdfunding success of “Is Daddy Coming Back in a Minute?” I am asking for your help again…. I used to love listening to stories at night in my bed, and my kids do the same today (albeit mine were on tape, and theirs are on CD! ;o) ) – How amazing would […]
Got the barcode, the lovely Anna is just finishing off the end papers, I will go through everything with a fine toothcomb, and we should hopefully go to print by the end of the week! OMG. It’s actually happening. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. And how appropriate it being my last […]
Well, I am pleased to report that this was the first day of Alex’s meds. We struggled to get him to swallow his first ever tablet, but got there in the end (one ended up in the bin). And, although I have seen him yawn a couple of times, he doesn’t seem to have struggled […]
Elke and Alex have managed to address much of what a very young child struggles with when someone they love dies very suddenly. Using his own words, it touchingly describes how 3 year old Alex felt when faced with the very grown-up situation of having to get help when his Dad had a fatal heart attack. Finding a book on sudden death suitable to be read with a pre-school child is very difficult, this one fills the gap admirably.Jill Adams, Bereavement Services Team, The Child Bereavement Charity
