I was honoured to have been asked to speak at the Child Bereavement UK conference “Getting Bereavement Right for Every Child” in Edinburgh this week. It was a great day, and wonderful to see so many people involved. Amongst other speakers, we got to listen to the amazing young person Jack McIntyre, who shared his story of his bereavement and the importance of the support he received. He moved the room. I also just got some feedback from my talk, which I would like to share with you: “5*. Touching, honest, therapeutic” – “Excellent speaker. Thought provoking and interesting to hear from a parent perspective” – “Very well presented and inspiring. Fantastic resource for children” – “Absolutely amazing” – “Very emotive day. So taken with Elke’s story, book and her sincerity and honesty” – THANK YOU ALL! I hope to be able to continue telling our story and supporting very young bereaved children. xxx

Elke is an incredibly determined individual and recognized a need to share her story, born of personal tragic loss, with others and their children who might experience a similar loss. When she went looking to books for answers or similar experiences that might answer some of her children's questions, she found nothing, only more emptiness, which she then decided to fill.Oliver Jeffers, multi-award-winning children's book author and illustrator, and maker of 'Lost and Found'
